Thomas Schneider - Secretary

Thomas P. Schneider is a native and life-long resident of Lawrence County Ohio. He is the first born to Charles M. and Diane J. Schneider. He was raised in Getaway, Ohio and attended Symmes Valley High School and Collins Career Center. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy as an Aviation Ordinanceman where he served a single period of enlistment until 1995. After separating from the Navy, Thomas returned to Lawrence County, and currently resides in Proctorville with his wife, Angel and their two children Col and Madeline Schneider.

Mr. Schneider is currently employed with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VBA) division and serves as one of five Veteran Service Commissioners for Lawrence County. During his term as commissioner, he has been co-responsible in aiding Lawrence County Veterans through the review and approval of emergency financial assistance applications related to (financial hardships, homelessness, transportation, and adaptive needs such as handicapped accessibility improvements). He dedicates himself to honoring the veterans of this county by participating in activities such as, the Lawrence County Veteran of the Year Award ceremony, Lawrence County Flags of Honor and Wreaths Across American. He is also the Commander of the Southern Ohio Memorial VFW Post 6878, dedicating his time to providing a Post that focuses on providing veterans, their families, and community members with a sense of belonging, self-pride, community, and country.

During his enlistment in the US Navy, his service included a West Pac deployment to the United Arab

Emirates and Saudi Arabia, in support of Operation Vigilant Warrior and a supportive peacekeeping

deployment off the coast of Somalia.

Beyond his love and dedication to God the father and his own family, Mr. Schneider finds no greater

calling or fulfillment than to be of service to the veteran in his county, his state, and his country.
